"Jack Bauer" knows best! Microtech Halo

I found out about this knife on a episode of 24 (found this great 24 trivia site that has the scene!) when this guy in a limo pulled out this really skinny metal thing from the armrest.  Then he tried to attack Jack but he was obviously way too slick and took the knife away from the guy.  Then pinned him against the limo and said.  "Who are you and who do you work for?"  the guy responded.  "I am no one, just a business guy."  then Jack said "Your lying, then why do you have a Microtech Halo in your hand?"  So the first thing I did was look up Microtech Halo and wow.  I must have one!

20th Century Fox

Microtech Halo III Blk PS MT134-2
with Tanto Blade / half serrated
$550 - $350

The Halo's blade is discharged by depressing the button and retracted by pulling this lil bar on the back.  See the Halo blade in action.

Then when i got to the website there were so many different ones to chose from that went through them all to see which one I really was looking for.  The Halo is great but was developed in 1996 and since then Microtech has come out with some newer and improved models.  I went with the Microtech Troodon named after TROODON (TROH-o-don) Dinosaur, which is the "flagship" since 2006.  It is the newest knife from Microtech and incorporates the newest technology in their front projectile blades.   I chose it for its modern slender design and mainly for its size.  I also like that the knife retracts by the lever on the side instead of pulling some thing on the back like the Halo.  It is the smallest of Microtech besides the UTX-70 which is just to small and puss for me.  I did run into one problem when picking out this knife.  PICKING THE BLADE TYPE!  Jesus I have never seen so many different blade choices on the same model in my life.  It is a bit ridiculous but then I guess this way you really get the knife you are looking for.  From what I know.  There are 5 Blade types.  Tanto, Wharncliffe, Single Edge, Double sided and Rescue.  All with the option of having serrated and partially serrated.
